International Kathmandu Marathon 2006 |

| Kathmandu Athletics Club, Swayambhu organized the First
International Kathmandu Marathon in Kathmandu on Saturday 2nd Mangsir 2063
(18th Dec. 2006). Akkal Bahadur Bohara of Armed Police Force (APF) won the
first prize of Rs. 100,000 along with an opportunity to participate in Paris
Marathon in 2007. He completed the marathon of 42 km. in 2 hours 31 minutes
and 2 seconds. Arjun Prasad Dhakal (2:31:27) of APF followed him grabbing
second position with Rs. 50,000 and Amar Shahi (2:32:42) of APF got third
position with Rs. 25,000. |

| Among 63 participants, including an American: Richard Yadfr,
26 runners completed the marathon. Narayan Desar, Padam Kumar Shrestha,
Prem Mahat, Lok Bahadur Rokaya, Chandra Bahadur Mahato, Prakash Khadka and
Bhim Awale secured positions from 4th to 10th respectively. They were motivated
with ADIDAS Track-suits. |

| French Ambassador to Nepal Michel Jolivet and National Sports Council
member secretary Jeevan Ram Shrestha gave away prizes to the winners of
the event. |

| This First International Kathmandu Marathon - 2006 will be followed by
Second International Kathmandu Marathon - 2007 on 3rd November 2007 and
the prizes will be doubled. So get ready, you may be the winner next year.
