Mr. Gopal, the counselor (press, information and culture) of the embassy
of India inaugurated this exhibition on the 12th of November, which will
remain till the 19th of November. This exhibition can be viewed from 11
am to 6 pm.
This group exhibition has been the first attempt of a team working together
from everywhere in Kathmandu. The team comprises of 11 students (Rajju Dangol,
Prayas Giri, Surem Deshar, Sovit Baniya, Hema Keyal, Sujita Maharjan, Menuka
Rai, Shradha Shrestha, Rukmani Shrestha, Rubin Shakya, Naresh Shahi), currently
doing their Bachelor’s together from Lalitkala campus and Srijana
College of fine arts. The members who decided to utilize their leisure time
during Dashain had chosen Chapagaun to turn the blank canvases to something
modern and creative. Looking at the nature and the temples of that location,
these artists portrayed such subjects in their own ways for 1 week to prepare
their creations.
Painting by Rajju Dongol.
The team plans to give continuity to their teamwork and plan to hold not
only this exhibition annually, but several other programmes with further
guidance and advice from the senior Nepali artists like Kiran Manandhar,
Batsa Gopal Vaidya. The paintings of “we and colors” have been
exhibited to express the passion and respect of these artists towards their
art. The paintings reflect the beauty of nature, peace, human emotions and
the uniqueness of our culture with titles – sentiments, rays of peace,
reflection of reality, the mountain, typical lifestyle etc. The paintings
were all a great pleasure to the eyes with their originality, colour combination
and unique beauty. The paintings are for sale too.
